Snuffle mats
A snuffle mat is a cushion of fleece or felt strips. You scatter dry food through the pile and the dog finds it by smell. That uses the nose, which is absorbing for a lot of dogs, and it slows a gulped bowl without a plastic maze.
Fabric is the weak point. Supervise, especially with puppies and determined chewers, and retire a mat when strips come loose. Most cats ignore a snuffle mat or flip it. A food puzzle is usually a better cat buy.
