Lick mats
A lick mat is a flat tray with a pattern. You spread a thin layer of their usual wet food across it and they lick it off. Many silicone mats suction to a smooth floor, a fridge door or the bath. Nylon mats stand up better if a dog mouths the surface.
It slows a meal down and gives them something repetitive to do. It is not a treatment for fear, stomach trouble or behaviour problems. Stay nearby the first few times, and take the mat away if they try to chew pieces off.
